When I started learning German I wanted so badly to have a list of A1 topics so that I know where I am heading, what's my progress, where I currently stand, how much more I need to learn to "finish" A1, how much more time is needed until I can confidently say I am done with A1.
I think this is a very common problem among learners who choose to self-study and do not go to courses because there isn't sort of like an assurance that we have covered what we need to know for A1, especially if we don't use textbooks for our studies. When I started learning German, I relied heavily on Youtube videos and websites. Actually, that's something I have been doing even up until today.
I am of the opinion that one can get through A1 rather easily on their own given the vast amount of free resources which are made available online. Of course, what would then be lacking is a partner or friend to practice speaking German with. I guess in the end it boils down to one's preferences and circumstances. I have a native speaking boyfriend whom I practiced speaking with and corrected my pronunciation back then when I was learning A1 so it wasn't a problem for me to self study.
I hope that a list like this would be helpful for anyone who is or would be in the same boat as I was. This list is not an official list by any means - it is a list where I have compiled the topics based on various resources like websites, books, and videos.
I'm going to kick start my Swiss German journey with this list!
